About Us
Mission
ERC Resource & Referral provides customized child
care referrals, professional development and resources for early childhood
professionals, and referrals to community resources. Caring, knowledgeable
staff and volunteers provide high-quality customer service. ERC
supports individuals, children, and families by connecting people with
area programs and services, improving the quality of life in Kansas
communities.
History
ERC was
established in 1978 as Everywoman’s Resource Center. Through the years it
became obvious that the services offered by the Center were not
particularly gender related. For that reason, in the fall of 1991, the
name of the Center was modified to ERC Resource & Referral. The center
serves as an informational clearing house, specializing in area resources,
organizations, and human services available to women, men, children and
teens.
Services
Today, the
Center makes more than 1600 referrals per month. Most referrals are in two
primary areas:
-
Child
care
-
Referrals to Community programs and resources, including assistance with
employment, housing, and emergency needs.
As a
referral agency, we are also an excellent resource for:
-
Counseling referrals
-
Information about community events
-
Volunteer opportunities
Funders
ERC is
supported through funds from the United Way of Greater Topeka, Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services,
through
KACCRRA (the Kansas Association of Child Care
Resources & Referrel Agencies),
county social service funds, memberships, contributions, grants
and special projects. The special project we are most noted for is the ERC
Designers’ Showhouse held each spring.
Designers’
Showhouse
A popular
community event since 1981, the Designers’ Showhouse showcases the work of
area interior designers and craftsmen who transform a selected home each
year for public tours and activities.
