Search for 2015 Designers' Showhouse is Over!!!

The 2015 Designers’ Showhouse will feature the beautiful Westboro home owned by Washburn University that serves as the President’s residence. As Washburn celebrates their 150th anniversary, it seemed fitting to update the residence used frequently by the university for hosting various groups and events.

“The Washburn University Board of Regents thought this project would be a good opportunity to incorporate with the 150th celebration while giving back to the community,” said Jennifer Sourk, Chair of the Washburn University Board of Regents. “Child Care Aware® is a good fit with Washburn University because it’s a non-profit organization focused on early childhood education which is pivotal in jump starting a child’s education promoting educational success for all children.”

The Designers’ Showhouse is a unique partnership between an area homeowner (in this case, Washburn University), a team of talented local designers and craftsmen, and Child Care Aware® of Eastern Kansas. The home receives a “total home makeover,” with the homeowner contributing the financial resources for construction costs and a modest budget for each design space. The designers all donate their time to the project, using this as an opportunity to showcase their creativity and talent to thousands who will tour the completely decorated home. Support from local businesses and many wonderful volunteers make the project possible.

“We are so excited about this wonderful partnership with Washburn,” stated Reva Wywadis, Executive Director of Child Care Aware® of Eastern Kansas. “It is fitting that our 35th Showhouse will benefit two local entities that both focus on education--- Washburn University and Child Care Aware® of Eastern Kansas!”
